Step 2. Once you're in strength training, make sure you learn about free weights and how to use them. The general opinion is that using free weights is one of the most effective ways to build muscle fast. Don't be intimidated-you can lift heavy weights by using a good old pair of barbells. More weight is equivalent to more stress, and more stress means more muscle. Dumbbells are also a great idea, but they should only be for assistance and not function as your main lifts. Step 6. Eat healthy. Exercise always goes hand-in-hand with diet. You especially need to get more than your fair share of protein and carbohydrates if you want to build muscle fast.
Step 7. And finally, rest. You need to recover from all the training you've done. Too much training is just the same as no training at all: it's bad for you and won't give you the results you want.
